Ceramics

CeramicsSpalding County Parks and Recreation is proud to offer a low cost, top quality ceramics department. Our ceramics supervisor, Diana Clark, came to work for Spalding County in 2007. She gained her experience as owner/operator of B & D Ceramics in Meansville since 1985. Her assistant, Diane Pugh, has been with the ceramics program for over 15 years.

The ceramics department is now located at 841 Memorial Drive in the old Cook's shopping center. Our classes are open to everyone who is interested. We welcome the beginner as well as the "old pro". We offer instruction in many different medias including acrylic dry brush, translucents, underglazes, glazes, and decals just to mention a few. We want our students to try new techniques and expand their skill levels. We also encourage all of our students to enter their favorite pieces in the Spalding County Fair each fall. The competition is fun and very friendly.

We keep a supply of tools and brushes available for purchase. Each person is responsible for buying their own. Our shelves hold a wonderful selection of pieces to choose from. We have tried to include something for everyone. The price of the piece includes all paint and firing.

Classes on Tuesdays are held from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 11a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dues are collected quarterly. Cost is $21 every 3 months to attend 1 day a week, or $31.50 to come both Tuesday and Wednesday each week. Feel free to stop by anytime during class to check it out.
