|
Camp Stephens was named for the Vice President of the confederacy Alexander H. Stephens. It is the site of a Civil War encampment and training ground. Nearly all Confederate troops from Georgia trained at this camp and at Calvary Camp Milner which is now the home of Griffin City Park. While visiting Camp Stephens one can still see the trenches and breastworks once used by the soldiers in training. This property is also located on the old trading route used by Chief McIntosh.
