Wyomia Tyus Olympic Park
In 1993 Spalding County was able to obtain the land for Wyomia Tyus
Olympic Park. Named after Olympic Medalist Wyomia Tyus, the
park was opened in 1999 and completed using SPLOST funds. Since then the 164 acre park has become
one of the most popular recreation sites in the county.
The park contains 2
picnic pavilions, 4 playgrounds, a rubberized walking trail, a paved
walking trail, and a 3 acre lake. There is also a baseball
complex with 5 fields, batting cages, pitching ball cages and concession/restroom
building. The soccer complex contains 7 fields and a
concession/restroom building.
